CVE-2019-10934

SYSTEM code execution via writable TraceEngine configuration

Published Jan 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Path traversal in the TraceEngine configuration of Siemens TIA Portal allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The product leaves files and folders below TraceEngine writable by non-administrative accounts, allowing alteration of configuration consumed with SYSTEM privileges. A valid limited-rights account is required, and exploitation needs no user interaction; successful use grants SYSTEM-level code execution.
