CVE-2019-10804Network attack vector

Command execution via unvalidated cmdPrefix

Published Feb 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

OS command injection in serial-number 1.3.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via the cmdPrefix argument. The serialNumber function passes cmdPrefix directly to exec without validation, allowing shell metacharacters to alter the command. Exploitation requires an application or CLI invocation that accepts attacker-controlled prefix data; successful attacks can run commands with the process privileges.
