Command execution via shell-interpolated method arguments
Published Jan 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in Dav Glass lsof 0.0.4 and earlier allows attackers to execute shell commands through exported method arguments. The raw, rawTcpPort, and rawUdpPort functions concatenate pid or port values into lsof command strings passed to child_process.exec without validation or shell escaping. Exploitation requires a consuming Node.js application to pass attacker-controlled values to an exported method, and injected commands run with that application's operating-system privileges.
