CVE-2019-10770Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Script execution via unescaped exception messages

Published Jan 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Ratpack 0.9.10 through 1.7.5 allows remote attackers to execute script via an untrusted exception message. ErrorPageRenderer throwable() writes throwable.toString() directly into the development-mode HTML error response without HTML escaping. Exploitation requires development mode, an application path that embeds attacker-controlled data in an exception, and user interaction with the rendered response.
