Local memory corruption via unchecked kernel-to-userspace copy
Published Apr 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Buffer overflow in Qualcomm Snapdragon display/graphics code allows local users to corrupt memory during a kernel-to-userspace copy. The copy path fails to verify that the userspace destination is large enough before transferring kernel data, so excess bytes overrun the destination buffer. Low-privileged local access is required, and successful exploitation can expose or alter protected data or crash the affected device without user interaction.
