Unauthenticated command injection via Spark settings
Published Sep 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in Apache Zeppelin 0.9.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute system commands via Spark interpreter settings. The Spark interpreter accepts attacker-controlled property values and passes shell metacharacters into command construction without neutralization. Exploitation requires access to the interpreter settings interface; successful injection runs with the Zeppelin server account and can read, alter, or interrupt host services.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
