Unauthenticated code execution via staging deserialization
Published Mar 26, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Deserialization in Kentico Xperience's staging service allows remote attackers to execute server code via crafted SOAP requests. SyncServer.asmx's ProcessSynchronizationTaskData method deserializes attacker-controlled stagingTaskData without validating the required security headers. Default username-based authentication permits exploitation without credentials or user interaction, even when staging is disabled; execution occurs on the hosting server.
