CVE-2019-0585Network attack vector

Code execution via wwlib DOC use-after-free

Published Jan 8, 2019 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Use-after-free in Microsoft Word and Office services allows remote attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted DOC file. The wwlib DOC parser reuses a pointer after freeing the referenced object while processing attacker-controlled document content. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open the file, and successful code runs with the current process user's permissions.
