Privilege escalation via malformed callback identifier
Published Jan 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in Apache Cordova InAppBrowser 3.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in the host app WebView. The Android URL-override handler accepts a crafted gap-iab URI and passes its malformed callback identifier into JavaScript evaluated by the main Cordova WebView. Exposure requires an Android Cordova application to load attacker-controlled web content in InAppBrowser; successful code runs with the main WebView's Cordova bridge access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
