Code execution via request-supplied import scripts
Published Aug 1, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Code injection in Apache Solr's DataImportHandler allows remote attackers to execute code via HTTP dataConfig requests. The handler accepts an entire import configuration from the dataConfig parameter and executes embedded scripts rather than restricting execution to server-controlled configurations. Exploitation requires access to a core with the optional handler enabled; code executes with the Solr process's permissions without user interaction.
