CVE-2018-9481

Remote information disclosure via Bluetooth length underflow

Published Nov 20, 2024 · Updated Dec 5, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in the Bluetooth HID service of Android 8, 8.1, and 9 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory. The bta_hd_set_report_act function in bta_hd_act.cc subtracts protocol overhead from an untrusted report length without first enforcing a minimum, allowing the unsigned length to wrap and drive an over-read. Bluetooth proximity is required, but no privileges or user interaction are needed; the documented consequence is information disclosure only.
