CVE-2018-9475

Remote privilege escalation via unbounded phone number

Published Nov 20, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2024

Out-of-bounds stack write in Android 7.0 through 9 allows remote attackers to gain privileges over Bluetooth when SIP calling is enabled. HeadsetInterface::ClccResponse in btif_hf.cc copies a phone number into the fixed-size dialnum stack array without limiting the write to the array size. Remote attackers must be within Bluetooth range and the recipient must have SIP calling enabled; no user interaction or existing execution privilege is needed.
