Code execution via wrapped string allocation
Published Nov 20, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 7.0 through 8.1 allows remote attackers to execute code in an unprivileged process via a crafted XML file. xmlMemStrdupLoc adds one to an untrusted string length without guarding integer wraparound, allocates the resulting undersized buffer, and copies the full string beyond it. Exploitation requires user interaction to make an application using Android's libxml2 library process the file; resulting code runs with that application's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
