Local privilege escalation via unchecked Binder transaction bounds
Published Jan 17, 2025 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Android's DmAgent allows local users with System execution privileges to gain elevated privileges. BnDmAgent::onTransact in dm_agent.cpp processes a Binder transaction without the required bounds check, permitting a write beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges and no user interaction; successful memory corruption compromises confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
