Local privilege escalation via FM driver OOB write
Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Dec 5, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Google's Android MediaTek FM radio driver allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. The fm_set_stat routine inadequately validates input before performing a write outside the intended buffer. Exploitation requires System execution privileges and no user interaction; successful exploitation raises the attacker's local privilege level.
