CVE-2018-9394

System privilege escalation via P2P key write

Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Dec 5, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in Google's Android MediaTek P2P driver before 2018-06-05 allows local users to gain System privileges. The mtk_p2p_wext_set_key function in gl_p2p.c inadequately validates key input before writing it beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and no user interaction, and successful abuse executes with System privileges.
