CVE-2018-9383

Local memory disclosure via unchecked ASN.1 length

Published Jan 17, 2025 · Updated Mar 18, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in the Android kernel allows local users with System privileges to disclose memory without user interaction. The asn1_ber_decoder function in asn1_decoder.c parses ASN.1 data without a bounds check before reading from the input buffer. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges and exposes memory contents without altering data or interrupting the device.
