Local privilege escalation via fastboot argument injection
Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
Privilege escalation in the MediaTek bootloader for Android SoCVersion allows local users to gain elevated privileges through fastboot. The fastboot command handler accepts user-supplied kernel command-line arguments and incorporates them into the boot process without adequate restriction. Exploitation requires local access, user interaction, and an affected MediaTek device whose bootloader exposes the command.
