CVE-2018-9351Network attack vector

Remote service crash via unchecked odd resolution

Published Nov 27, 2024 · Updated Nov 29, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Google Android 7, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 8, and 8.1 allows remote attackers to crash media processing. The ih264e_fmt_conv_420p_to_420sp conversion reads beyond its input because the encoder accepts odd frame dimensions without the required bounds validation. Exploitation requires user interaction with crafted media and causes a service interrupt, with no reported ability to read or alter data.
