Local information disclosure via uninitialized gain configuration
Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 6, 6.0.1, 7, 8, and 8.1 allows local users to read uninitialized memory through audio-policy queries. The AudioPortConfig constructor initializes only the audio_gain_config index, leaving its other fields uninitialized for listAudioPorts and listAudioPatches responses. A local application can trigger the Binder path without user interaction or additional execution privileges; the demonstrated consequence is data disclosure only.
