Local privilege escalation via raw-disk IOCTL
Published Jan 11, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Incorrect access control in K7 Antivirus Premium 15.01.00.53 allows local users to gain privileges through a crafted device request. The K7Sentry device interface accepts a specific IOCTL from a low-integrity process without sufficiently authenticating access, exposing raw hard-disk operations. A local user must execute code on the host; successful exploitation crosses the process integrity boundary and grants privileged disk access.
