CVE-2018-8572Network attack vector

Authenticated script execution via unsanitized web requests

Published Nov 14, 2018 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Microsoft SharePoint 2013 SP1, 2016, and 2019 allows remote authenticated users to run script via crafted requests. SharePoint fails to sanitize attacker-controlled content in specially crafted web requests before rendering it in another user's browser; Microsoft has not disclosed the affected request handler or parameter. Exploitation requires SharePoint authentication and victim interaction; the script runs as that user and can read or change site data available to that user.
