Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized service parameter
Published Mar 6, 2018 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Command injection in soap.cgi in D-Link DIR-860L, DIR-865L, DIR-868L, and DIR-880L allows remote attackers to execute OS commands. The soapcgi_main function in cgibin inserts the unescaped service parameter into a script filename and deletion command executed through system(). Exploitation requires LAN-side access to the SOAP endpoint but no credentials or valid SOAP content, and the published demonstration obtains a root shell.
