Local code execution via registration-field SEH overwrite
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
Buffer overflow in Socusoft Flash Slideshow Maker Professional 5.20 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through its registration dialog. The dialog accepts a 2,300-byte payload through its Name and Code fields, overwrites the SEH chain after 1,328 bytes, and returns through cximage.dll without SafeSEH or ASLR. Exploitation requires a local user to paste crafted text and submit the dialog; the demonstrated payload opens a reverse shell with system privileges.
