Local code execution via registration-field buffer overflow
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
Buffer overflow in Socusoft 3GP Photo Slideshow 8.05 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the registration dialog. The Registration Name and Registration Key handlers accept a crafted 512-byte prefix without an effective length check, overwriting the SEH chain. Entering the payload and applying the registration invokes shellcode in the application process, as demonstrated by a Windows x86 reverse-shell proof of concept.
