Local code execution via registration name overflow
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Socusoft DVD Photo Slideshow Professional 8.07 allows local users to execute code via the registration name field. A 4,000-byte value pasted into Registration Name overruns the stack, replacing the SEH record with a POP POP RET pointer that transfers control to embedded shellcode. Exploitation requires local interaction with Help > Register, and the demonstrated payload executes in the context of the user running the application.
