Application crash via oversized GUI input

Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026

Classic buffer overflow in IT Lights Software Visual Ping 0.8.0.0 allows local users to crash the application with oversized GUI input. The GUI input handler copies more than 4,108 bytes from the Host, Time Out, Packet Size, Pause, or Loops field into a fixed-size buffer without checking the input length. The attack requires local interaction with the GUI and causes only an application crash; no code execution or data compromise is reported.
