Local code execution via License Name overflow
Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Buffer overflow in Allok Soft WMV to AVI MPEG DVD WMV Converter 4.6.1217 allows local users to execute code via the License Name field. The License Name handler accepts an oversized registration string without enforcing its buffer limit, so crafted nSEH and SEH values redirect execution to embedded shellcode. Exploitation requires local access to enter the crafted registration value, and resulting code runs with the application's privileges.
