CVE-2018-25306Public exploit

Local process crash via malformed PDF parsing

Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026

Buffer overflow in freedesktop.org PDFunite 0.41.0 allows local users to crash the application by merging a crafted PDF file. The failure occurs in libpoppler's XRef::getEntry while it processes malformed PDF cross-reference data, but published material does not identify the specific unchecked copy or field. The attacker must supply a file to a local merge operation; demonstrated impact is a segmentation-fault crash of that pdfunite process.
