Local code execution via username SEH overwrite
Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Local buffer overflow in Ether Software Easy MPEG to DVD Burner 1.7.11 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via the Username field. The registration dialog fails to bound an oversized Username string, allowing data after 1,008 bytes to replace nSEH and the SEH handler and redirect execution into supplied shellcode. Exploitation requires local access to open the application and paste the generated payload, and the resulting code runs with the application's user privileges.
