Local code execution via Device alias overflow
Published Apr 26, 2026 · Updated Apr 26, 2026
Stack buffer overflow in Faleemi Desktop Software 1.8.2 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the Device alias field. The Managing Log interface accepts a 5,100-byte alias payload that overwrites the structured exception handler and redirects execution to embedded shellcode. Exploitation requires local GUI interaction to paste the generated payload into Device alias and activate Search; the demonstrated payload launches Calculator.
