Admin account creation via unauthenticated CGI request
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Authentication bypass in Synaccess netBooter NP-02x/NP-08x allows remote attackers to create administrator accounts via HTTP. The webNewAcct.cgi handler accepts attacker-supplied account credentials from a crafted POST request without performing the required control check. No prior account or user interaction is required on versions 5.53BC, 6.10, 6.4A, 6.4BC, 6.5C, and 6.8C; the new administrator can switch managed power outlets off.
