Unauthenticated PHP execution via unescaped installer replacement
Published Jan 8, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025
Code injection in Snap Creek LLC Duplicator before 1.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP via a leftover installer. The installer.php database-replacement step inserts an unescaped url_new value into wp-config.php, allowing attacker-supplied PHP statements to be written. Unauthenticated access is sufficient when installer.php or installer-backup.php remains web-accessible after migration; the injected statements execute as site code.
