Unauthenticated path traversal via unclean URL path
Published Dec 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Path traversal in pastebinit 0.2.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to read files via crafted HTTP paths. The server.go pasteHandler joined r.URL.Path directly to the storage directory, allowing .. segments to escape that directory; the fix canonicalizes the path before joining. Exploitation requires the pastebinit server to be reachable, and the demonstrated impact is unauthorized file disclosure.
