Stored cross-site scripting via unsanitized package descriptions
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Yola Yolapi allows remote authenticated users to run script in package-page viewers' browsers via crafted metadata. render_description converts package Markdown or reStructuredText into HTML and passes the result to mark_safe without first sanitizing untrusted tags and attributes. Package-metadata submission requires privileges, and script execution requires a viewer to open the rendered description.
