Cross-site scripting via unescaped mailto output

Cross-site scripting in Smarty before 3.1.47 and 4.x before 4.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript through parameterized web pages. The smarty_function_mailto implementation inserted attacker-controlled address and display text into generated mailto HTML and JavaScript without appropriate escaping. Exploitation requires a page that invokes this plugin with GET or POST influenced values and a victim who loads the page; the bounded impact is script execution in the victim's browser context.
