Memory corruption via unsound mutable-reference coercion
Published Dec 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Memory corruption in Actix actix-web before 0.7.19 allows remote attackers to corrupt process memory through unsafe reference aliasing. The crate unsoundly turns an immutable reference into a mutable reference, violating Rust aliasing guarantees, but the affected API is undisclosed. RustSec identifies use-after-free as the most likely corruption scenario; public sources do not document the exact request trigger or resulting control over the server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
