CVE-2018-25022Public exploitNetwork attack vector

IP address disclosure via unrestricted onion packets

Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Information disclosure in toxcore before 0.2.2 allows remote attackers to discover a target user's IP address through UDP onion routing. The Onion module accepts NAT Ping Requests as onion-routed payloads, causing a target to relay a ping directly to an attacker-controlled DHT node. Exploitation requires the target's Tox ID, attacker-controlled DHT nodes with a sufficiently close key, and UDP mode; TCP-only mode is unaffected.
