CVE-2018-25010Network attack vector

Information disclosure via ApplyFilter heap overflow

Published May 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

A heap-based buffer overflow in Google libwebp before 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to read memory and interrupt services via crafted WebP input. ApplyFilter processes decoder filter data without sufficient bounds validation, causing an out-of-bounds heap read when a malicious image is decoded. Exploitation requires an application or utility to decode attacker-controlled WebP data; the record describes confidentiality and availability impact without showing integrity compromise.
