Account creation bypass via multiple email addresses
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper signup validation in Mattermost Server before 5.2 allows remote attackers to create accounts from blocked email domains. The signup domain check accepts input containing multiple email addresses without enforcing the restriction against the address used for registration. Exposure requires email signup and domain-based account restrictions to be enabled, and successful exploitation creates an account under a disallowed domain.
