Remote code execution via unrestricted class metadata
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Deserialization in Jodd JSON before 5.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted JSON class metadata. MapToBean reads an attacker-controlled class name from configured metadata and passes it to ClassLoaderUtil.loadClass without restricting allowed types. Exposure requires an application to enable setClassMetadataName and parse JSON from an untrusted source; successful exploitation runs code in that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
