A buffer overflow in NETGEAR D7800, R7500v2, R7800, R8900, R9000, WNDR4300v2, and WNDR4500v3 allows remote authenticated users to compromise them. Affected firmware precedes 1.0.1.34 on D7800, 1.0.3.26 on R7500v2, 1.0.2.42 on R7800, 1.0.3.10 on R8900 and R9000, and 1.0.0.54 on WNDR4300v2 and WNDR4500v3; NETGEAR has not disclosed the affected component or unsafe copy operation. Exploitation requires high-privileged authentication and adjacent-network access; the vendor has not specified whether the overflow causes a crash, code execution, or another effect.
