CVE-2018-20072

Out-of-bounds memory access via malformed PDF

Published Sep 23, 2024 · Updated Mar 25, 2025

Insufficient data validation in Google Chrome before 73.0.3683.75 allows remote attackers to trigger out-of-bounds memory access using a crafted PDF. Chrome's public record identifies the PDF component but does not disclose the parsing routine or validation error that permits the invalid memory access. A user must open or process the crafted PDF; the record does not establish whether the access is a read or write or whether it enables code execution.
