CVE-2018-19441Network attack vector

Remote robot control via predictable secret keys

Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Predictable secret keys in Neato Botvac Connected 2.2.0 allow remote attackers to control robots through the cloud API. NeatoCrypto_GenerateRobotPassword hashes the MAC address, provisioning timestamp, constant bytes, and output from an unseeded generator whose state repeats across robots. Exploitation requires the robot serial number and an estimate of first provisioning time; recovering the key permits forged authentication headers and remote commands.
