Root code execution via unbounded CGI input
Published Oct 26, 2023 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Buffer overflow in ABUS TVIP camera CGI scripts allows remote attackers to execute code as root through crafted web input. The CGI scripts pass attacker-controlled request strings to sprintf without bounds checking, overwriting adjacent memory and program control data. NVD assesses the flaw as unauthenticated, while the researcher's original scoring requires a single authenticated session; successful exploitation grants root execution.
