Stored XSS via blog-viewer package rendering
Published Apr 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025
Stored XSS in affected GitLab CE and EE releases allows remote authenticated users to execute script when a repository is browsed. The blog-viewer renders attacker-controlled data from a repository's package.json without sufficient output neutralization, storing executable markup in the repository view. An attacker needs a GitLab account and control of repository content, and a victim must browse the crafted repository; script execution is confined to the victim's browser context.
