CVE-2018-16739Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root code execution via traversed file write

Published Oct 26, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

Path traversal in ABUS TVIP72500 Firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code as root through crafted file paths. The /cgi-bin/admin/filewrite endpoint accepts absolute or ../../-prefixed SAVE.filePath values, writes attacker-supplied script content outside the intended file-server directory, and leaves the script executable by the camera's web server. Valid web-interface credentials are required; successful exploitation grants root-level control of the camera, including arbitrary file access and command execution.
