Mailbox manipulation via permissive D-Bus policy
Published Jan 22, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper privilege management in Samsung Galaxy Gear firmware before build RE2 allows local users to manipulate a paired mailbox. The wemail_consumer_service D-Bus policy permits an unprivileged process to invoke mailbox operations that should be restricted. A malicious process must already run on the watch; it can alter mailbox data and send arbitrary email through the paired smartphone.
