CVE-2018-16153Network attack vector

System credential disclosure via untrusted media URL

Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated May 27, 2025

Credential disclosure in Apereo Opencast 4.x through 10.x before 10.6 allows remote attackers to obtain system digest credentials. IngestServiceImpl.addContentToRepo uses the system-authenticated HTTP client for a media-package URL without verifying that the host belongs to the Opencast cluster. Exploitation requires an external service URL in a media package and an authentication challenge from that service; the resulting digest exposes credentials to offline recovery.
