CVE-2018-15811Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Parameter disclosure via weak DES encryption

Published Jul 3, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Weak encryption in DNN Platform 9.2 through 9.2.1 allows remote attackers to read protected parameters via key guessing. CoreCryptographyProvider.EncryptParameter uses DES with the first eight passphrase characters as its key and the last eight as its IV. Known plaintext from a registration verification code enables key recovery; the published code-execution chain also requires an authenticated session and DNN's built-in 404 handler.
